Jessey Chakane started her own construction company RJC Construction
in 1997,as the first black women in the Northern Cape to enter into
male dominated industry,Jessey and other women from 9 Provinces
recruited by Dr Ingrid Verwey who was the specialist for construction
development in the DBSA,Dr Ingrid and her voluntees team of
professional women from different sectors,Sawic ( South African Women
In Construction) was formed and represented in 9 Provinces women been
nominated as chairpersons to represent their provinces and in 2004 we
all delegated to United State of America to learn from the advance
women in construction in the USA and they became our sisters who also
I won 10 Awards for my Province and my company,appeared several times on the National TV for the program called Business Entrepreneur Zone between 1999-2005 and media companies for exposure and empowerment from different stakeholders,My company has grown through the help of Department of Housing,Public works and South African cricket Board.I was mentoring Girls from Kimberley Girls High school that have love and interest in construction engineering studies,i was sharing my experience with every women who have joined the industry women who were working for my company obtain certain skills from NHBRC,I have obtain many qualifications during my journey in the industry.
Presently i am a Director at Tau Pele Construction(PTY)LTD which is Grade 9 CE and also a Managing Director at Lengau Suppliers Group,we specialize in Road Rehabilitation and construction,crushing and screening,Asphalt production,Bituminous binders and many more activities to offer,we have in training programs,playing a significant role of empowering young women and youth,taking social responsibility seriously.
